The 2010 Afterschool for All Challenge...Coming Soon!

From April 19-21 in National Harbor, Maryland, we’ll offer two days of workshops, star-studded plenary sessions and a Capitol Hill Day with congressional meetings and a high energy rally for afterschool on Capitol Hill.

We’re especially excited to be coordinating a strand of workshops dedicated to policy and advocacy.  These workshop topics will include the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA - formerly No Child Left Behind), using America After 3PM for advocacy, afterschool in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and a whole lot more.

This conference partnership couldn’t be timelier: The President recently released a proposed budget cut to 21st CCLC funding by $13 million, and indicated that the Department of Education would likely open up the 21st CCLC funding for extensions of the school day.

Now more than ever Congress needs to hear from us about the importance of afterschool in each and every one of our communities.  And hear from us they will; we’ll have as many as 1,000 afterschool providers and advocates taking the Capitol by storm.

If you haven’t already, be sure to register for this year’s Afterschool for All Challenge/National AfterSchool Association Conference.  If you’re as excited as we are to meet with your Members of Congress, be sure to also sign up for the Capitol Hill Day as part of your registration.

We can't wait to see you in April!
