New resource database for programs interested in STEM, civic engagement, and youth empowerment

This blog is part of the Afterschool Alliance's Collective for Youth Empowerment in STEM & Society (CYESS) initiative. This series of blogs highlights examples of programs working at the intersection of STEM and civic engagement. We are excited to showcase the systemic change young people can make in their communities when their afterschool programs support them to layer action onto their STEM learning. If you would like to know more or submit a blog about your youth action program, please contact us.

We are so excited to announce the release of the Collective for Youth Empowerment in STEM & Society Resource Database. This database is designed to be a repository of resources focused on the intersection of STEM, Youth Empowerment, and Civic Engagement for out-of-school practitioners. Regardless of where you are in your journey to incorporate STEM, youth voice, or civics into your program, you can find resources from our partners and beyond that will help you on your path.

How to use the database:

  1. Identify what you are looking for. Looking for a curriculum? Professional development? Research? Our database can be filtered to meet your needs. 
  2. Evaluate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. All resources added to the database are labeled with any corresponding UN Sustainable Development Goals and can be searched by topic areas that interest you and the young people that you work with. Learn more about the UN SDGs.
  3. Search by keywords.
