The new year marks the start of the 119th Congress and a new administration. Washington will focus on various policy priorities, both new and ongoing, from enhancing government efficiency to restructuring federal tax policy. 

As federal relief funds run out, state and local governments must find ways to continue or expand access to quality afterschool and summer programs.

With new resources available for summer programming, and great challenges facing our students, we have an opportunity to make summer 2022 a game-changer for students. While this summer provides a tremendous opportunity to help youth thrive, this winter is the ideal time to plan your 2022 summer programs. The Afterschool Alliance, Every Hour Counts, and the National Summer Learning Association have teamed up to offer a webinar reviewing what it takes to make a summer program successful, recommendations for planning effectively right now, and tips from program leaders.

Summer learning programs offer the chance for kids to stay safe and remain engaged during the out-of-school-time months and build both academic and social and emotional skills, as they explore all that your program has to offer. As you continue planning for the upcoming summer season, we wanted to provide a deep dive into a topic that would be relevant and helpful as you prepare for success in the months to come.
