About this webinar:

All students deserve opportunities for rigorous and meaningful STEM learning, regardless of race or ethnicity, culture, gender, socioeconomic status, language, or disability status. It’s not enough to just provide increased access—we must think carefully about how we design programs, choose curriculum or projects, and interact with youth to best support their success in STEM.

So, what happens when we keep equity at the center of what we do? In this webinar, you’ll hear from three afterschool programs that prioritize equity in their mission. These programs all approach STEM learning through making, tinkering and youth-led design—you’ll also find out why these approaches closely align with equity.

Speakers:

  • Meg Escude, Director of Community Youth Programs, California Tinkering Network, Exploratorium
  • Emilyn Green, Executive Director, Community Science Workshop Network
  • Melissa Ballard, STEM Manager, Afterschool Alliance
