An afterschool program that feels like a family

Hi everyone, my name is Trinity Ansley! My afterschool program is San Diego Urban League, Project Ready.

Having been a member since freshman year and now being the chair of the program as a junior, I really appreciate this afterschool program because of all the different opportunities given to students throughout their four years of high school. 

The program has a focus on senior year, giving seniors the tools and skills they need to be prepared for college. And I really love that particular focus, because many programs either can not or do not offer that type of support and preparation. There are many other opportunities in the program for younger students as well, such as volunteering and career exploration.

Being chair of the program, I am very involved not only with the general community but also with the program’s students and my fellow staff members. The program is very family-oriented, and we want students to feel like they belong here while they prepare themselves for college and adulthood. That life transition is not always easy, and this amazing program is here to help!

Being a junior in the program now, I am looking forward to supporting my peers and discovering what other opportunities are available for me to develop my skills and college-readiness.
