Up to $30k for programs improving family literacy, engagement, leadership

The National Center for Families Learning (NCFL) is seeking program proposals for the Sharon Darling Innovation Fund (SDIF) Family Learning System Challenge. This funding opportunity will award up to $30,000 to organizations that are developing and implementing innovative programs and strategies aimed at improving the status quo in family literacy, family engagement, and/or family leadership.

NCFL’s goal is to ‘support the development of strong, positive relationships between families and schools or community organizations, to provide families with the resources and support they need to participate in literacy and learning activities, get involved in their communities, develop their leadership skills, and improve both adult and child learning outcomes, including literacy and language skills, that lead to equitable thriving families and communities.’

Out-of-school time programs are specifically listed as one of the potential eligible organization types and are encouraged to apply. More details about the specific goals of the RFP and the link to apply are available here. The deadline for applications is May 1, 2023.
