Afterschool for All Challenge

Congress faces tight spending limits for fiscal year 2027. But demand for programs continues to rise.

These programs are a priority for kids and families. Take action to urge Congress to increase funding for our local afterschool and summer programs!

How to participate

We've prepared social media posts on our Digital Action Toolkit to promote and participate in the Challenge. Here's a sample:

Before March 6

We know #AfterschoolWorks to help young people learn, grow, and thrive. Now it’s time to make sure our leaders know it too. Raise your voice on March 6 during the Afterschool for All Challenge. www.afterschoolalliance.org/challenge.cfm

On March 6

Across the nation, 3 in 4 kids are missing out on afterschool. All youth deserve an equal chance to succeed – tell Congress that #AfterschoolWorks. 3to6.co/congress

After March 6

Thank you, @InsertRepHandle, for supporting the high-quality afterschool opportunities that are so critical for our kids! Let’s keep afterschool strong in [STATE]. #AfterschoolWorks

Make it personal

There’s nothing like seeing afterschool firsthand to turn a skeptic into a champion. Every member of Congress has local offices and staff. Invite them to come visit! Members themselves are also home several times a year, during Congressional recesses, and appreciate the chance to see and talk to their constituents. So invite them to see firsthand how afterschool and summer learning work in your district.

Key dates

Mark your calendars: as we continue the fight to keep afterschool program doors open, there are a few key times to keep in mind. Download these calendar reminders to make sure you don't forget! They're pre-loaded with links to the resources you'll need to take action.
